Plans Approved For New Glucose Tank At Golden Casket
An Iconic Greenock sweet factory has been granted planning permission for a new glucose tank.
The Golden Casket factory, located at Fort Matilda Industrial Estate, sought permission to install the glucose tank and a metal enclosure on its premises.
The factory, which is a Grade B listed building in a conservation area, has been given conditional approval from Inverclyde Council for the installation.
The glucose tank will have a 2.5-metre diameter and a height of 7.5 metres, with an additional 1.1-metre access apparatus. The metal storage container which is approximately 18 square metres in size and 3.5 metres in height will be painted brown. Both structures will be positioned adjacent to the factory wall.
The application was completed by Rebecchi Architectural on behalf of our long-term client, Golden Casket, which is well-known for its production of a range of confectionery.
These new installations have been deemed compatible with the industrial use of the site and are expected to have minimal visual and residential impacts due to their placement. The factory itself will continue to operate as a food manufacturing unit.
The decision was made by local councillors after considering the proposal's compliance with the development plan.
The planning process confirmed that the site is not within a known flood risk area and does not require new or altered vehicle access or water supply.
The installation of the glucose tank and metal enclosure did not receive any objections from public participation or agencies such as Scottish Water and Roads/Transportation.
As part of the conditions of approval, the siting of the container is approved for a period of five years unless an extension is granted by the planning authority.
The approval reflects the council's assessment that the proposal respects the character and appearance of the conservation area.
