Container Storage Yard Plan For Vacant Land Approved On Appeal
Councillors have agreed that a container storage facility can be created on vacant ground in Port Glasgow.
Building inspection, maintenance and repair company Balmore Group has been granted permission for a yard with 47 containers - a mixture of 20 and 10-foot units - in Kelburn Business Park.
A garage workshop will also be built on the site which is on Kelburn Road.
Balmore Group are based in an industrial unit in a neighbouring section of the business park.
Inverclyde planning officials initially refused permission saying the containers were not considered to be “appropriately designed to be in keeping with the character of this area in that they do not reflect the urban local architecture”.
But Balmore appealed and the refusal has now been overturned by councillors on Inverclyde Local Review Body.
